We lived on the farm for seven years early in our first years of marriage. The winters were so very cold, dangerously cold, yet had a beauty all their own. I have a photograph of Tom, wearing only his bathrobe and boots, running the 150 feet to retrieve the mail in -40 F winter weather. I left him out of this painting.
